The Gifted of Mawhiba Represent the Kingdom at Intel ISEF 2018

Competing with 1800 Students from 75 Counties with 18 Projects

Seventeen male and female gifted participated with the delegation of the Kingdom in Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) 2018 held in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. in the period from the 26th Sha'aban to the 3rd of Ramadan 1439H, corresponding to 12th to 19th May 2018.

Intel ISEF 2018 is the world’s largest and most ancient pre-college science competition. Each year, approximately 1,800 high school students from more  than 75 countries are awarded the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for valuable prizes.

The Kingdom, represented by King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, participates with 17 scientific projects to be presented by 17 students (8 boys and 9 girls) in different scientific and engineering fields.

This is the twelfth participation of the Kingdom in Intel ISEF where the Saudi gifted won during these years 54 awards (36 grand awards and 18 special awards).

The Kingdom participation in Intel ISEF, represented by Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education , dates back to 2007, where it won prizes from the first participation (2 awards), and continued with the winning of prizes and competing with other countries for attaining the first place, and attained the third place in the last three competitions.

King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) grants this year big awards of USD 90,000 in 4 new research fields for the attainment of prospective world sustainability.

The scientific fields of the awards are: modern technology for solving contemporary problems, innovative treatment strategies in health applications, sustainable initiatives in water technologies, smart solutions in Cybersecurity. Where 10 scientific researches were awarded 10 prizes of USD 1,000 each, in addition to 4 scholarships of USD 20,000 each.
