The Nationals are Back on the Podium at the Balkan Olympiads for Mathematics

Achieving Four Medals among 17 Countries and 107 Students


The students of the Kingdom won (four silver medals and three bronze medals) in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, hosted by the capital city of Chisinau from 30 April to 5 May 2019, with the participation of 17 countries and 107 students, one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.​

 


The student Asaad Saleh won a silver medal, and the students: Nawaf Al-Ghamdi, Khalid Al-Ajran,, and Omar Habibullah won a bronze medal each.

His Excellency Dr. Saud Al-Mutahmi, Secretary General of Mawhiba, extended his congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for their unlimited support for the nation's talents.


 


His Excellency, Dr. Saud Al-Mutahmi also added: "This win was the result of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Education, “Mawhiba", and KAUST"


The Kingdom represented by King Abdulaziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity “Mawhiba", participated in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BMO)  with a team of six members:


Thana Al Haidari, Marwan Al Khayyat, Khalid Al Ajran, Nawaf al-Ghamdi, Asaad Hamid, and Omar Habibullah.


 


The Kingdom has been participating in The Balkan Mathematical Olympiad since 2010, and has won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 19 bronze medals, and 5 certificates of appreciation.
