Four students representing the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba ) won four international awards in the North Baltic Physics Olympiad 2020 held virtually in the Republic of Latvia due to the Corona pandemic, with the participation of 111 contestants representing 12 countries, including 4 main countries and 8 guest countries.

The four students won a silver award and 3 bronze awards, and student Ahmed Al-Haid from Al-Ahsa Education Department won the silver award, and Al-Qassem Senegali and Hussam Nuruli from Makkah Education Department, and Hisham Al-Maliki from Riyadh Education Department won 3 bronze awards.

This participation in the North Baltic Physics Olympiad 2020 was held after the cancellation of the Asian Physics Olympiad due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and Mawhiba's participating team included 6 students as follows:

Hisham Al-Maliki from the Riyadh Education Department, Al-Qasim Senegali, and Hussam Nuruli from the Makkah Education Department, Ahmed Al Muhanna and Hussein Al-Shamasi from the Eastern Education Department, and Ahmed Al-Haid from the Al-Ahsa Education Department.

111 competitors from 12 countries competed for the Olympiad awards, as each main country is allowed to participate with 20 competitors, while each guest country is allowed to participate with a specified number of competitors.

It is noteworthy that the Olympiad was firstly launched in 1992 with the participation of Estonia and Finland, and it was then called the Estonian-Finnish Olympiads in Physics, and it represented the last stage of the training stages in the two countries to nominate the teams participating in the International Physics Olympiad. In 2014 and 2016, Latvia and Sweden joined, and the name of the competition was changed to the North Baltic Physics Olympiad.
