Space Generations Program Advisory Committee Reviews the Role of Satellites in Improving Quality of Life

The Saudi Space Commission, represented by the Human Capital Development Program "Space Generations", and in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba", organized a dialogue session as a part of the series "90 Minutes in Space" entitled "Satellites Improve Life." Such session was convened as a part of the World Space Week activities approved by the United Nations General Assembly as of 4 to 10 October of each year, to celebrate the contributions of space science and technology to improving human life and improving the human condition, which is the largest annual space event in the world


 

The session discusses satellites' role in improving the quality of life by addressing various topics, including ground monitoring and communications applications and the extent of their impact on the human future, and reviewing the role and history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the design and development of satellites. Besides, such a session addresses making an educational presentation on the Sally Ride EarthKAM project for Earth Monitoring via the International Space Station. The session is to be presented by the first group of members of the Space Generations Program Advisory Committee for the year 2020, which consists of 12 members representing the student population of different educational levels. They are student Muhammad Fadaq, Arwa Al Abdul Karim, Wed Al-Saadoun, Yusef Al-Rabiah, Kayan Al-Mujhd, Abdul Rahman Al-Ghosoun, Sarah Al-Zamil Abdulrahman Taha, Nasreen Al-Hammad, and Abdulrahman Al-Hanihan.

The Commission is the first government agency to initiate this age group's participation by forming an official advisory committee consisting of the sons and daughters of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


 

​​The activities will be made in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba", inactivation of the existing agreement entered into between them, which aims at enhancing cooperation, integration, and development of Saudi human capital in the space sector, in order to provide enrichment and education about space science and its technologies.
