The Kingdom Wins a Bronze Prize at the Asian Physics Olympiad 2021

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" and the Ministry of Education, won a bronze prize in the Asian Physics Olympiad 2021, which was held remotely in Taiwan from May 17 to 24. 

 

Al-Qasim Sangali, from Makkah Al-Mukarramah education department, won a bronze medal, as a  participant in the Saudi Physics Team in the competition, while competing  with 181 students from 25 countries.

 

The Kingdom, represented by Mawhiba Foundation and the Ministry of Education, increased its number of awards won by the Saudi team participating in the Olympiad to 9 awards. The Saudi team won 8 awards during its previous participation in the Asian Physics Olympiad; including a bronze medal and 7 certificates of merit.

The Kingdom’s Physics team included 8 students, and they are: Hussam Muhammad Ashour, Ahmed Nabil Al Muhanna, Hussein Adel Al-Shamasi, Jawad Bahaa Al-Saif, Al-Qasim Sanqali, Sadiq Al-Abbad, , Lama Abdul Rahman Al-Ahdal, and Hassan Muhammad Al-Layl.

The Asian Physics Olympiad is a regional competition, in which most Asian countries, which always achieve advanced positions in the International Physics Olympiad, participate in it. The competition’s first version was launched in 1999 in Indonesia, with the participation of 12 countries. The number of the participating countries now reached 25, from which, there are Asian countries and countries participating as guests, due to the position and prestige of the competition, which precedes the International Physics Olympiad.​​
