Mawhiba: 223 International Students Participate in Enrichment Programs with More Than 6,000 Saudi Students

223 students from 7 countries, namely: the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Greece and Panama, participated with more than 6000 students from Saudi Arabia in Mawhiba Academic, Research and Universal enrichment programs 2021 organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba” every summer; to meet the future needs of the highly qualified human capabilities, to enhance the passion of talented people in public education with scientific research, to enrich knowledge in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to develop and raise students’ skills and leadership abilities.

A number of Gulf and Arab ministries of education and international organizations were keen to register their students in the Mawhiba enrichment programs within the existing cooperation between Mawhiba and its partners. 110 UAE students participated, Among them, 86 are in Mawhiba Academic Program, 24 are in Mawhiba Research Program based on their nomination from the UAE Ministry of Education, 40 are Qatari students in the Academic Program based on their nomination from the Ministry of Education of Qatar, and 41 are students from the Arab Republic of Egypt in Mawhiba Academic Program based on their nomination from the UNICEF and the Egyptian Ministry of Education, 16 students from the State of Kuwait in the Universal Mawhiba Program, based on the nomination of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, and 4 students from the Kingdom of Bahrain in Mawhiba Academic Program, nominated by the Bahraini Ministry of Education, in addition to the participation of 12 winners of special Mawhiba awards in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2021 in the Universal Mawhiba Program, including a student from Panama, a student from Greece, and 7 students from the United States, China, and Poland.

The participation of Arab and international students came through the distinctiveness of the various Mawhiba programs, through which it touched the partners in the participating countries, enabling the “Mawhiba” Foundation to provide aspects of training and qualification for its students in various scientific approaches. This comes within the framework of achieving the international dimension of Mawhiba Foundation in nurturing the gifted, and transferring its pioneering experience in discovering, nurturing and empowering talented people in the world to build a better future for the coming generations, and to achieve sustainable development in the world based on creative and qualified human capital to lead the future. "Mawhiba" Foundation is the first in the world in the comprehensiveness of its work and programs in the approach of discovering, nurturing and empowering the talented, and it works in wide partnerships with international, Arab, Gulf and local foundations. Students from Gulf and foreign countries receive Mawhiba Enrichment Programs in various approaches and specializations according to agreements between Mawhiba and a number of authorities: Arab, regional and international.

Mawhiba Academic, Research and Universal Enrichment Programs 2021 were held face-to-face and remotely, in cooperation and partnership with 7 leading Saudi universities and research centers. King Saud University, King Abdulaziz University, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University hosted the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program, while the Mawhiba Research Program was held at King Abdulaziz University, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and King Fahd Medical City.

Mawhiba Academic, Research and Universal Enrichment Programs 2021 took place in two periods; the first on June 13, and the second on August 1, targeting 6,846 students. It included 23 different scientific units, prepared in cooperation with the Center for Gifted Youth at Johns Hopkins University, and is presented intensively over a period of 21 days for each period.​
