Mawhiba: Concludes Its Summer Enrichment Programs With the Participation of 6,826 Saudi and International Students


PHOTO-2021-08-26-16-09-12.jpg6,826 students, including 223 international students, have completed their participation in Mawhiba Academic, Research and Universal Enrichment Programs 2021 organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity Mawhiba after turning during the summer vacation to doctors, engineers, pilots and scientists in 23 approaches in more than 7 universities and research centers.

This year's Mawhiba Enrichment Programs witnessed an increase in the number of Arab and international talented participants, as the ministries of education in Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity in Kuwait, and UNICEF nominated their students to participate in various enrichment programs. 750 students participated in the Academic Program (face-to-face) and 3567 remotely. 381 students participated remotely in the Universal Program. 105 students participated in Mawhiba Ambassadors’ programs, which are held every summer in the top 50 universities in USA, along with 110 Emirati students, including 86 in the Academic Program and 24 in the Research Program. 40 Qatari students participated in the Academic Program, 41 Egyptian students in the Mawhiba Academic Program, 16 Kuwaiti students in the Universal Mawhiba Program, and 4 Bahraini students in Mawhiba Academic Program, in addition to the participation of 12 winners of special awards in the Science and Engineering Fair  (ISEF), which was held this year in USA, in the Universal Mawhiba Program.

The programs were executed in two periods; the first was from June 13 to July 1, 2021, and the second was from August 1 to 19, 2021, with the participation of 6,846 students representing (43) education departments for male students and (42) for female students, and included 23 scientific units prepared in cooperation with the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University in the USA.

HE, the Secretary-General says: “Mawhiba is proud of its sons and daughters participating in its enrichment programs; Saudis, Arabs and internationals; believing in the importance of nurturing the creative and talented in the world, and their main role in the advancement of nations, and access to a greater degree of advancement, progress and prosperity of mankind”.

HE, the Secretary-General of Mawhiba added that the Foundation was keen to develop a methodology in compliance with international scientific foundations to ensure building real partnerships with high quality returns, which resulted in more than 100 Saudi, Gulf, regional and international partnerships. Meeting thhe future needs of highly qualified human capabilities and enhancing passion among talented people remain of great importance, especially in scientific research and knowledge enrichment in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Mawhiba Academic, research, and global enrichment programs 2021 were held in attendance and remotely in cooperation and partnership with 7 leading Saudi universities and foundations. King Saud University, King Abdulaziz University, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University hosted Mawhiba Academic Program. Mawhiba research program was held at King Abdulaziz University, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, and King Fahd Medical City.

Mawhiba Deputy Secretary General for Gifted Services, Dr. Basil AlSadhan, praised Mawhiba’s partners in executing the enrichment programs, who support achieving its goals and mission, pointing out that the content of the programs focuses on scientific and technical tracks of vital importance that support the Kingdom’s transformation into a knowledge society and achieve sustainable development. It is also consistent with the initiatives and goals of Vision 2030.​
