Mawhiba Secretary-General Discusses with the Presidents of King Abdulaziz and KAUST Universities the Prospects for Joint Cooperation


On the sidelines of Winter Camp 2022 at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology "KAUST" in Jeddah, HE. Dr. Saud Al-Mathami, Secretary-General of the King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity, met with HE. the President of King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Youbi.

In such meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen joint collaboration between Mawhiba and the two universities to refine the capacities of national talents, and to provide the Saudi economy with innovative human capital that would add value to the national economy. 


During such visit, KAUST President Dr. Tony Chan and his deputy Dr. Najah Ashry met with HE. Secretary-General of Mawhiba Foundation, and the President of King Abdulaziz University. A general discussion took place on the strategic partnership between Mawhiba and KAUST promoting this joint collaboration for the nurture and empowerment of the talented sons and daughters of the nation, and raising the nation's balance of outstanding talents, as the identification, nurture and empowerment of giftedness is a common complementary industry for the prosperity of societies and sustainable development. 

Following the meeting, HE. President of King Abdulaziz University and the Vice President of KAUST, Dr. Najah Ashry, took a tour to the students participating in the Winter Camp 2022.

 HE. the President of King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Youbi, paid tribute to the level of the participants, and things provided by Mawhiba of a stimulating environment, for excellence and competition in the name of the Kingdom for obtaining first places and global awards in international forums. He added that cooperation exists between the university and "Mawhiba" through several projects and research and academic programs.

The Winter Camp 2022 is one of the “Mawhiba" programs for the International Olympiad, representing the launch icon of qualified male and female students from Mawhoob Competition 2021, and the candidates from the Elite Camp 2021, towards realizing the dream of moving the qualifiers to the Spring Camp; the second stop of the student's journey to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in International scientific competitions.

The Winter Camp includes the implementation of 3 training camps during 6-16 January 2022, for 10 days, in each of the following: Riyadh, Jubail, and Jeddah, with the participation of 585 male and female students, in the following specializations: mathematics, informatics, chemistry, physics, biology and science, during which they receive more than 60 training hours, as part of the preparations for Mawhiba International Olympiad Program. 

The Mawhiba Foundation organizes the Winter Camp annually, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and the Royal Commission for Jubail.
